Free range faith?
This is a bit of a mish mash of stuff, but the title was easily chosen-it was a question put forward during a sermon a few weeks back, now I can't really remember the context it was given in, or why it was asked, however I can say that its stuck with me, its lodged itself in my head and heart, and its making me wonder....is my faith free range, what does it mean to have faith like this, how can we become more free range?? Now I don't have the answers to these questions, and i'll delve further into these in another post, but for now, here is a brief insight into my head:
Its so easy in today's society to get caught up in everyone else's business, to get so immersed in 'life' that we forget about God, when really, we should be offering our whole lives as praise and worship to our awesome God, our God who is constant, who gives us freedom, yet seeks to meet us in every time and every place, wherever it may be. Our God who gives us eternal life, so that we may have no fear of death, so that we may have no fear of the unknown, of 'whats next', our God who gives us eternal life so that we may live with a freedom, a love, a never ending hope.
It is because of this love, and wondrous Grace, that death should offer us no challenge, no fear, enabling us to pursue what God wants us to, to be wild and free for his love, to spread his word with a passion and a joy that the knowledge of eternal life brings with it. Is your faith free range?
Like the rush of a mighty wind, Jesus comes with all his grace, he comes to save a fallen race. Christ's love shines through, no matter where you are, no matter where you've been, and no matter where you're going
In the beginning, your Spirit swept across the face of the waters, bringing order and beauty out of chaos, you created beauty from my ashes-so let us go with boldness Lord, for you will lead us, let us go without fear Lord, for what is there to be fearful of when you grant us eternal life, let us go without hesitation Lord, for how can we hesitate, when your mighty power pours over us, let us go with love, for how can we go with anything other, when your rains of love flood our thirsty souls
Im currently reading 'The River of God' by Dutch Sheets, now the only reason I picked this book up was because it was around the time of my baptism, and I saw the words 'river' and 'God' together and thus was immediately drawn, and boy am I glad I was, because its such a good book, its really easy to read, but it makes me think, and im actually enjoying it, which i've found isn't always the case with God books.
Anyway the point is, I read something which really made me smile, it reminds me of the quote by EE Cummings: To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you someone else, means to fight the hardest battle, which any human being can fight, and to never stop fighting, and it it this:
It is difficult, if not impossible, for imperfect unbalanced people to manifest the perfect balance of God-so for now, I leave you, alone with this quote, in all its honesty and truth
Amen <3
Go in peace, for the Lord is with you, always and forever
